Submit a Week of Welcome (WOW) 2020 Event:
WOW 2020 is scheduled for August 3-16, 2020. Tar Heel Beginnings and New Student & Family Programs is currently accepting event proposals from University colleges/schools/departments as well as recognized student organizations to host events and programs during WOW 2020 that welcome new first-year and transfer students to UNC. There is currently no imposed deadline to submit an event proposal. We will make an announcement once a new deadline is confirmed and in place.
Please review our WOW 2020 Program Planning Guide for detailed, up-to-date guidance and program planning steps prior to submitting your proposal(s).
If your group plans on hosting one (1) event, submit your proposal using the online portal found here: WOW 2020 Event Proposal Portal
If your group plans on hosting two (2) or more events, email firstname.lastname@example.org for a template form to help organize all of your proposal information. You will then use the template as a submission in place of using the online portal. Please note that while UNC offices can submit multiple events per day, student organizations are limited to one WOW event per day.
When proposing events, we encourage campus partners to be mindful of current recommendations for social distancing and preventing the spread of COVID-19.
We also encourage event sponsors to consider the logistics of your event(s) and how you would modify if guidelines continue and/or develop and your submitted event plan does not meet those guidelines.

Submit a Tar Heel Beginnings (THB) Event:
THB events will take place between late August and December 2020. Tar Heel Beginnings and New Student & Family Programs welcomes event proposals from University colleges/schools/departments as well as recognized student organizations to host events and programs during Fall 2020 that assist in transitioning new first-year and transfer students to UNC.

Q- Can I propose more than one event?
A- Yes! We invite any University colleges/schools/departments as well as recognized student organizations to submit multiple events for WOW and THB. If you do so, please email email@example.com for a template to help organize all of your proposal information. You will then use this template for your submission.
Q- How do I reserve a location/space for my event?
A- Please note that all organizations hosting a WOW event are responsible for completing all event facility reservations and related facility costs, as well as abiding by all University policies and procedures. Please reserve the location prior to submitting your event. You will be asked as part of your proposal submission to confirm having received confirmation of your event location space prior to being able to submit your proposal(s). Q- What kind of events happen at WOW/THB? How can my group participate?
A- Your group has the opportunity to introduce new students to the Carolina community. Events can range from informational talks to social events. Through this opportunity, your organization can help new first-year and transfer students find their interests, meet new friends, and transition into Carolina. Please review the WOW 2019 Schedule for detailed information on last year's event calendar.
Q- How are these events promoted?
A- All WOW approved events will be published in print and online. We will be reaching out to proposal partners to ensure accuracy of information before publication in these formats.
