Housing During Orientation

Students will stay in the Hinton James Residence Hall. Linens are NOT provided in the residence hall. Rooms are double occupancy rooms; each room is air-conditioned and has two twin beds.  Participants should bring their own pillow, blanket/bed linens, and towels. Hinton James Residence Hall consists of suite-style bathroom facilities, shared by the 8 students in each suite, across 4 double bedrooms.

All first-year students are required to live in on-campus housing or in Granville Towers during their first year at UNC. Therefore, all first-year students have the opportunity to experience on-campus living during their Orientation session. As such, ONLY students will stay in the residence hall for the session. For family members and/or guests attending orientation please visit this resource site to find accommodations at one of our local Chapel Hill hotels.

Roommates will be assigned during housing check-in when you arrive on site. If you would like to room with somebody specific at your session you MUST check in to housing together at the same time and even then it is not guaranteed it will be possible.

If a student or guest requires accessibility services such as a sign language interpreter, dietary needs, or additional resources please be sure to indicate the needs in the appropriate fields during the Orientation reservation process. These needs must be communicated through the reservation process prior to the May 15 deadline to allow for adequate time for our staff to make arrangements to meet student/guest needs. Students can also seek further assistance from the office of Accessibility Resources & Services.

Carolina Covenant families/guests who attend orientation will receive an email 3-days ahead of your session date with information on your overnight stay location, including check-in and parking details for your hotel from [email protected].
