This year, Family Football Day will take place during the UNC vs. Richmond game on Saturday, September 1, 2025. See below for event details.
Event Details
The Family Football Day experience is comprised of both a tailgate and game attendance. See below for a snapshot into both.
Attending the Game
All Gameday Experience Packages include entry to the Carolina Football game in Kenan Stadium. Cheer on our Tar Heels and experience our school spirit and pride firsthand with your student. Tickets include both lower- and upper-level options. And don’t forget to wear your Carolina Blue!
The UNC vs. Richmond kickoff time is 3:30pm ET.
The Pre-Game Tailgate
The Pre-Game Tailgate is included in two (2) of the Gameday Experience Packages available for purchase and takes place at Polk Place. Just steps away from the Bell Tower Block Party, it is managed by RevelXP and elevates the football weekend experience for newcomers and longtime Carolina fans.
The experience includes DISH media TVs, a DJ, putt-putt matts, a golf driver simulator bay and a BBQ-style buffet for all attendees. Other benefits include lawns games and ample space for gathering and celebrating with tabled seating and cocktail-style tables.
2025 Ticket Prices & Packages
Gameday Experience Packages will go on sale July 1. Be sure to sign up for emails in the UNC Family Experience Portal for updates and reminders. Once you purchase tickets, this is also how you will receive event reminders and updates:
Gameday Experience Packages:
- Lower-Level Game Ticket and Tailgate | $171 + fees: Includes one (1) lower-level football game ticket plus access to the Pre-Game Tailgate at Polk Place.
- Upper-Level Game Ticket and Tailgate | $155 + fees: Includes one (1) upper-level football game ticket plus access to the Pre-Game Tailgate at Polk Place.
- Upper-Level Game Ticket and $20 Concession Voucher | $85 + fees: Includes one (1) upper-level football game ticket pre-loaded with a $20 concession stand voucher that can be used in Kenan Stadium.

Visit the Bell Tower Block Party
The Bell Tower Block Party is a pre-game fan experience hosted four (4) hours before kickoff. It features food trucks, games, the live Rameses, and the traditional Bell Tower Walk by the football team.
Meet the Live Rameses
Did you know UNC has hosted a live ram dating back to the 1920s? As mentioned above, see the live Rameses in the Ram Pen near the Bell Tower before the game, and on the sidelines during the game!
See the Marching Tar Heels
No gameday is complete without the Marching Tar Heels, known at the Pride of the ACC. See their Drumline perform prior to kickoff at the Pit, and the full ensemble perform at Polk Place (the location of the Family Football Day tailgate!)

What if my ticket is located in the visitor’s section?
Don’t worry! The majority of the stadium will be filled with Carolina fans. Even if your tickets are behind the visiting team’s bench, expect to be surrounded by fellow UNC fans and other families participating in the Family Football Day.
I already have football tickets. How do I purchase a “tailgate-only” ticket?

Are there any refunds?
No. To best prepare for this event we cannot offer refunds. We will follow Carolina Athletics’ Football Ticket policy for events that might impact the game happening. Click HERE to view this information, including rules regarding delays, cancelations, or postponements.

No exchanges or refunds will be given after ticket(s) have been purchased, including tickets that have been lost, misplaced, stolen, damaged, destroyed, or forgotten.

When & how will I receive my tickets after I purchase them?
Expect your digital tickets sent via email prior to the event date. Tickets are sent to the email you used when purchasing your tickets. Tickets will come from [email protected]. I purchased a ticket with a concession voucher. How will that be delivered to me?
Your concession vouchers will come to you via email from Carolina Athletics. It is a digital download that you can add to your mobile device’s digital wallet.
Where can I use my voucher in Kenan Stadium?
If you purchased an upper level + concession voucher ticket, you can use that at designated concession stands in the stadium. This list will be sent to you by Carolina Athletics with your voucher.
Alcohol cannot be purchased with the included voucher.
Where will my seats be located?
Purchasing this ticket/package will provide you with a ticket in the designated upper or lower level. You are guaranteed to sit with your party (your number of tickets purchased will be grouped together). The Fevo ticketing tool will place folks in the upper or lower level in the best seats available depending on when you purchased your tickets. The earlier your purchase will mean a priority consideration for the best available seats at that time.
I need wheelchair-accessible seating. How can I request that?

Can I request specific seats if I know someone else attending the game?
Seats will be assigned as tickets are purchased. FEVO is unable to accommodate specific seating requests.
Where should I park on game day?
Visit UNC’s Football Event Parking Website for both Pre-Paid Game-Day Parking options (recommended) and general public parking on game-day information.
Is Carolina Family Weekend a separate weekend?
Yes! Family Football Day and Carolina Family Weekend are separate events. Stay tuned to your email and the UNC Family Experience portal for more information about that weekend – uncfamilies.campusesp.com.
