Welcome Home to UNC WOW (Weeks of Welcome)!
We're excited to welcome new and returning Tar Heels to our community! We're looking forward to August 2024 and starting the year off excitingly with two weeks of programs, events, and special opportunities all geared to welcome you to UNC, help you learn about your new home, and get you connected to other new students!
What is UNC WOW?
UNC WOW is Weeks of Welcome! WOW is over two weeks of programs, experiences, and opportunities with the goal of helping new and returning students transition to and become part of the Carolina community. From the moment you arrive for move-in, you'll be able to attend a number of events that make you excited to be a Tar Heel and make this place feel more like home. From meeting professors to making friends, from exploring campus to navigating Chapel Hill, and from free food to free gear, there's something at WOW for every student.
When is UNC WOW 2024?
UNC WOW 2024 is Friday, August 16 - Sunday, September 1, 2024!
Where can I find the UNC WOW 2024 Schedule of Events?
The WOW schedule will be released on Heel Life in phases starting in May 2024. We encourage you to stay up-to-date on communications with NSFP and to explore Heel Life, at heellife.unc.edu, our go-to site for events, organizations, and involvement at UNC, where we'll be sharing the WOW schedule once launched! On Heel Life, you'll be able to RSVP and save events that interest you so you don't miss them during WOW. Be sure reach out to [email protected] if you have any questions!
What can I do to get ready for UNC WOW?
Follow the WOW Board on Instagram at @unc_wow for frequent updates, giveaways, and more!
Students should go ahead and setup their Heel Life account and check for event and program updates throughout the Summer. You can also RSVP to events you're interested in for reminders!

Info for Partnering Student Organizations & University Offices
We invite you to submit programs and events to the WOW schedule, whether this is your first WOW or 20th WOW! Review our WOW Program Submission Guide (check back for the 2024 guide!) for more details and instructions on how to share your event with us and new students! We encourage early submission as the WOW schedule will be shared with new students over the summer at New Student & Family Orientation sessions, which can be a great way to promote both your group and your program(s).
Who makes UNC WOW and how can I be a part of it?
UNC WOW is made possible by an incredible community student organizations, University departments/offices, and campus partnerships.
Specifically, much of UNC WOW is brought to life by the WOW Board, a team of students who create, plan, and run many of the events from NSFP for WOW. Applications to join the WOW Board go live in Fall 2024. Reach out at [email protected] for more information.
I see "UNC WOW" and "WOW". Is there a difference?
UNC WOW and WOW are one-and-the-same! Depending on the communication, post, or location, we may use one or the other interchangeably.
