First-Year Orientation Arrival & Parking Information

Arrival Locations

Orientation participants may park on campus in the Craige Parking Deck. Below are maps and addresses for the parking lots and check-in locations. You will also see additional UNC visitors and town parking information.

Orientation participants will receive an email with reminders and instructions, including parking details, approximately 3-weeks and 3-days prior to your session.

Orientation Parking – Craige Parking Deck (click for map)

• Craige Parking Deck is located at the corner of Manning Drive & Paul Hardin Drive.
• Use the QR code to enter the Parking Deck. This is issued in your preparation emails.
• You will only receive a parking pass and QR code if you completed the car registration when you registered for Orientation.

Student Orientation Housing – Hinton James Residence Hall (click for map)

Orientation Day Check-In and Program Space – Frank Porter Graham Student Union (Carolina Union) (click for map)

For August sessions – if your student has a parking space on or near campus we recommend utilizing the campus shuttles to get to and from that parking to the Orientation program at the Carolina Union. If you and/or your student plan to drive a vehicle to Orientation please utilize the options detailed below.

General Arrival for June & July Sessions Only

I’m a Student & Guest(s) Arriving Together in 1 Vehicle and Parking

• Student should be dropped off at Hinton James Residence Hall
• Guest should proceed with the vehicle to park at Craige Parking Deck (click for map)
  • Do not wait for your student. You will be going to the same place, the Carolina Union
  • Walk to Orientation check-in at the Carolina Union

I’m a Student Attending by Myself in 1 Vehicle and Parking

• Park in Orientation parking at Craige Parking Deck (click for map)
• Bring your belongings to Hinton James (7-minute walk)
• Alternatively, use the shuttle from Craige Parking Deck to the stop near Hinton James
  • Click HERE to view the shuttle information and schedule.
  • This is an exit only shuttle. You cannot get on a shuttle at Hinton James.
• After checking in at Hinton James, walk to Orientation check-in at the Carolina Union

We, Student and Guest(s), are Arriving in Separate Vehicles and Parking

1. Student and guest(s) should park at Craige Parking Deck (click for map)
2. Guest(s) will walk to Orientation check-in at the Carolina Union
3. Student should bring your belongings to Hinton James (7-minute walk from Craige Parking Deck)
   • Alternatively, use the shuttle from Craige Parking Deck to the stop near Hinton James
   • Click HERE to view the shuttle information and schedule.
   • This is an exit only shuttle. You cannot get on a shuttle at Hinton James.
4. Student should bring their belongings to Hinton James (7-minute walk to from Craige Parking Deck)
   • Alternatively, students can use the shuttle from Manning Lot to Taylor/Ram Village stop for closer access to Hinton James.

Designated Orientation Parking is at Craige Parking Deck (click for map) located at the corner of Manning Drive & Paul Hardin Drive.

Step 1: Find Craige Parking Deck using this map

• Address: 555 Paul Hardin Drive, Chapel Hill, NC 27514

Step 2: Use the QR Code sent you via email from [email protected]

• The QR code must be used to enter and exit the deck each time, to avoid charges.

Orientation Early Arrival

Early Arrival Parking is also located in the Craige Parking Deck located at the corner of Manning Drive & Paul Hardin Drive. Use the QR code included in your session preparation emails to access the deck.

• Carolina Housing would have had to approve you for an early arrival process. If you made early arrival arrangements with their office and were approved you should follow any/all instructions they provided you for the early arrival process.

The morning of your Orientation session start, you will proceed directly to Orientation Check-In located in the Carolina Union (FPG Student Union).
