Transfer Orientation Arrival & Parking Information

Arrival Locations

Orientation participants may park on campus in the Rams Head Parking Deck. If the Deck is full, Orientation participants may use Manning Lot as the overflow option. Below are maps and addresses for the parking lots and check-in locations. You will also see additional UNC visitors and town parking information.

Orientation participants will receive an email with reminders and instructions, including parking details, approximately 2-weeks and 3-days prior to your session.

Orientation Parking – Rams Head Parking Deck (click for map)

  • 330 Ridge Rd, Chapel Hill
  • Use the QR code to enter the Parking Deck. This is issued in your preparation emails.

Orientation Overflow Parking – Manning Lot (click for map)

  • 238 Manning Dr., Chapel Hill
  • Visit ParkMobile at unc.pmreserve.com to enter the unique code for your “virtual permit”. This is issued in your preparation emails.

Student Orientation Housing – Hinton James Residence Hall (click for map)

General Arrival

  1. Student and guest(s) should park at Rams Head Parking Deck
  2. Student and guest(s) will walk to Orientation check-in at the Carolina Union
  3. Rams Head Parking Deck full? Overflow Parking is at Manning Lot
  4. Are you an "Early Arrival" registered to stay the night before your session? You will park as noted above and under "Orientation Early Arrival" below. You can then walk to Orientation check-in at the Carolina Union the day of your session.

When Rams Parking Deck is full or parking was NOT requested during the registration process, you can use Manning Lot. The address is 238 Manning Dr., Chapel Hill, NC.

Orientation Early Arrival

Early Arrival Parking is also located in the Rams Head Parking Deck at 330 Ridge Road, Chapel Hill, NC 27514. Use the QR code included in your session preparation emails to access the deck.

  • For early arrival check-in, report directly to Hinton James Residence Hall between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Hinton James Residence Hall l is located at 515 Hinton James Drive, Chapel Hill, NC 27514.
  • If you arrive after 8:00 p.m., you may need to call the on-call phone number posted at Hinton James Residence Hall to check-in

The next morning, you will proceed directly to Orientation Check-In located in the Carolina Union (FPG Student Union).
