Chapel Hill Transit at First-Year Orientation

Chapel Hill Transit is the bus system option that helps students get around campus, Chapel Hill, and surrounding areas. It is free for students and families/guests to use while at Orientation.

Did you miss the Orientation Shuttle?

The Orientation Shuttle has limited times and spaces that it can navigate for Orientation specific needs. Depending on your need, you may decide to use the Chapel Hill Transit. Your best options are the RU Route and U Route.

The RU Route

The RU Route has buses moving from the Manning Lot to the Union in the time you may be arriving your Orientation session, from 7:00am - 9:50am. Click the button below for a full map, route, times, stops and more.

See the route from Manning Lot (#1) at Family Medicine Center to the bus stop at South Rd. & Raleigh St. (#2) near the Union.

Pull the Yellow Cord in the bus to signal you want to stop.

The U Route

The U Route can help you as you exit your Orientation session on Day 2. It has buses moving from the Union to the entrance to the Manning Lot. Click the button below for for a full map, route, times, stops, and more.

See the route from South Rd. & Raleigh St. (#2) near the Union to Manning Lot (#3) at the Skipper Bowles Dr. at S11 Lot Driveway.

Consider downloading the Transit App. Enter the location of where you want to go and it will tell you the nearest bus stop, when you should leave, what bus to take, and the ride
