PARKING & HOUSING DURING ORIENTATION

Where will I park during Orientation?

Parking for all Orientation attendees is included in the fee.

Students who submitted a vehicle license plate during their Orientation registration process will be emailed a parking pass three days ahead of the session date for Rams Head Parking Deck. There are two parking options for summer Orientation.

  • Rams Head Parking Deck:  In the 3-day reminder email you will be sent a parking pass that is directly tied to the vehicle information you shared in the registration process. You must utilize the vehicle with the license plate that you registered. Be ready to show your parking pass either on a smart device or having a print out with you. On arrival, you may need to display the pass also. Plan to use your parking pass as validation to exit Rams Head Parking Garage without a charge each day. Please note: failure to provide a parking pass upon exit will result in being charged the normal hourly rate. Your parking pass is unique to the vehicle that was registered so you must utilize that vehicle for the pass to be valid.
  • Manning Parking Lot:  You can find information about utilizing this lot on our parking website. Shuttles will run on overlapping session days only. We will be updating information about shuttles running from this lot up to the Carolina Union for day of parking on overlap session dates (June 12, 25, 26, 27 & July 9, 10, 16, 17, 18, 24, 25 & August 13).
    • Use the ParkMobile App or website to enter the unique code for your “virtual permit”. This will be issued in your 3-day preparation email.
    • Visit ParkMobile at pmreserve.com

Plan to use your parking passes as validation to exit the lot without a charge each day. Please note: failure to provide a parking pass upon exit will result in being charged the normal hourly rate.

  • First-year students, please plan to arrive no later than 8:45 a.m. on Day 1 of Orientation; staff will greet you in the parking lot and direct you to check-in. Please print two copies of your New Student Orientation Parking Pass to bring or be prepared to show the pass via a smart device.
  • Transfer students, please plan to arrive no later than 8:15 a.m., staff will greet you in the parking lot and direct you to check-in. Please print one copy of your New Student Orientation Parking Pass to bring or be prepared to show the pass via a smart device..

If you arrive late and failed to print your parking pass before arrival, you will be able to access it from a mobile smart device via your email. For more information, visit our searchable campus maps and accessibility parking.

Where will I stay during my Orientation session?

In June and Junly, First Year Students will stay in the Hinton James Residence Hall. Linens are NOT provided in the residence hall. Rooms are double occupancy rooms; each room is air-conditioned and has two twin beds.  Participants should bring their own pillow, blanket/bed linens, and towels. Hinton James Residence Hall consists of suite-style bathroom facilities, shared by the 8 students in each suite, across 4 double rooms.

NOTE: Orientation Housing is NOT provided during August sessions. Instead, students living on-campus will move in to their permanent residence hall assignment a day early.

Transfer Students orientation covers one full day and does not include a residential stay component.

Can guests/family members stay in the same room as their student?

Can I request my roommate at Orientation?

Roommates will be assigned during housing check-in. If you would like to room with somebody specific at your session you MUST check in to housing together at the same time.

My guest (or student) requires accessibility resources/services. How can I request those?

If a student or guest requires accessibility services such as a sign language interpreter, dietary needs, or additional resources please be sure to indicate the needs in the appropriate fields during the Orientation reservation process. Students can also seek assistance from Accessibility Resources & Services.

I'm a Carolina Covenant family member/guest. Where can I find more information on my Orientation accommodations?

Students must denote Carolina Covenant status on their registration forms when they select an Orientation session. Carolina Covenant families/guests who attend orientation will receive an email 3-days ahead of your session date with information on your overnight stay location, including check-in and parking details from [email protected]. Please note that if we are not aware of Carolina Covenant status at least one week prior to the Orientation session we cannot guarantee hotel accommodations.
